Birmingham City's Late Fightback Falls Short in Thrilling Second City Derby

Aston Villa extended their unbeaten home run to five matches in all competitions as they dispatched local rivals Birmingham City 4-2 in a pulsating Second City derby on Saturday.

Jonathan Kodjia and Jack Grealish netted inside the opening quarter of an hour to put Villa in the ascendancy, only for Jude Bellingham's reply to halve the deficit before halftime.

Tammy Abraham restored Villa's two-goal advantage shortly after the restart, but Birmingham refused to lie down and Lukas Jutkiewicz's second-half strike set up a tense finale.

However, Alan Hutton's stunning late goal sealed Villa's triumph, ensuring Dean Smith's men remained undefeated in their last eight home matches against Birmingham.

The victory lifted Villa into ninth place in the Championship standings, while Birmingham remained in 16th after their third successive defeat.
